Drs. Honan, Mazzocco, and Kratz are distinguished senior ophthalmologists whose remarkable work has revolutionized modern cataract surgery in America and beyond. They so often collaborate that they have earned the respectful and affectionate moniker of “Los Tres Amigos.” Over the decades, they have continued in their teaching, innovation and contributions. They have upheld their duties as faithful students and observers by regularly attending and frequently presenting at major medical and ophthalmic meetings here and abroad. In recent years, their studies and convictions have led them to tag “chronic inflammation” as an integral part of the disease process in medicine and ophthalmology.
