Systems Genetics Analysis of Skeletal Traits
The goal of my lab is to improve our understanding of the genetic basis of complex skeletal phenotypes that are relevant to human bone diseases. Towards accomplishing this goal, my lab is using systems genetics, which is an emerging approach that seeks to understand how genetic information is assimilated, processed and transmitted through cellular networks to modulate the function of biological systems. In this talk, I will describe our recent work utilizing genome-wide association and gene co-expression network analysis in the mouse to identify novel genes and regulatory interactions that influence the activities of bone cells and bone mass.
