This Seminar/workshop will provide updates on features and functionalities on the Next Generations Sequencing and Microarray data analysis in the Partek software packages.
We will demonstrate the Gene Expression workflow on the 1st day, October 31. The following topics would be discussed: Data import, QA/QC, detect genes showing differential expression and generate a list of genes of interest. Gene Set level analysis will also be covered which include enrichment of the function groups from the significant genes, and using gene set ANOVA to detect differentially expressed functional groups.
On the 2nd day, the RNA-Seq session will cover how to use statistical tests to identify differentially expressed transcripts and alternative spliced genes, novel exons/transcripts and coding SNPs. The ChIP-Seq session will specifically focus on visualization of mapped reads, peak detection, motif discovery (find both novel motif and known motif), annotate enriched regions with overlapping genes or database.
The class will combine lecture and hands-on exercises. Due to limited space, you will need to register for this workshop and bring a laptop computer for the hands on exercises. Time will be left at the end of the second day for small-group discussion about your data.
